Ingredients For italian round steak

  • 1/3 c
    cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 lb
    round steak, thick
  • 1/2 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 c
    fine, dry bread crumbs (i use italian-style)
  • 1
    beaten egg
  • 1
    onion, minced
  • 2 c
    hot water
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano
  • 6 oz
    can tomato paste

How To Make italian round steak

    Pound flour into round steak.
  • 2
    Trim off fat and cut into pieces
  • 3
    Dip meat into beaten egg.
  • 4
    Roll meat in bread crumbs and 1/2 of cheese.

    Brown in oil.

    Put browned meat in shallow baking dish.

    Put onions in pan meat was browned in and saute'.

    Combine tomato paste, hot water and spices.

    Boil mixture for 5 minutes.

    Pour most of sauce over meat, add 1/2 cheese and rest of sauce.

    Bake covered at 350° for 1 hour or until tender.
